Sustainability, care, and responsibility for everyone in our supply chain are woven into every Rayas Collective basket. Every basket is handwoven in Vanesa's workshop located in Nahuizalco, El Salvador. This family partnership has been essential to our mission of supporting traditional artisanship, strengthening community ties and empowering local talent.
Our pieces are crafted from high-density polyethylene plastic strands made with recycled materials. HDPE is one of the world’s most widely recycled plastics, making our mono-material baskets fully recyclable, as well as waterproof, lightweight, UV-resistant, and built to last.
We source our HDPE locally from a manufacturer in San Salvador, drawing from both post-industrial and post-consumer recycling streams. Used HDPE plastics are collected, processed into pellets, extruded and transformed into new strands.
